INDO-US CO-OPERATION IN CYBER SECURITY
Abstract
Indo-US is the emerging relationship of the 21st century. It has profoundly focused on the various areas including cybersecurity cooperation. This emerging relationship has entirely changed the nature of cybersecurity engagement because it has given attention to the problem-solving approaches to overcome the existing challenges and tried to find out the ways to promote cybersecurity cooperation. Both countries have signed various agreements, established various mechanisms and initiated different programmes. This indicated that both countries have developed a close mutual understating and confidence. However certain US cyber programmes such as the US PRISM programme under which Indian nuclear and space scientists, prominent political leaders and other prominent bureaucrats have come under US surveillance has produced tussle and sense of insecurity in the minds of Indian policymakers. the paper has argued that India should carefully evaluate its cybersecurity engagement with the US so as to have a meaningful engagement with the US while simultaneously protecting its own national interests.
